Healthy Meals on the Go - August 2014

Summer is full of fun and activity, which often means eating on the go. This raises the question, "Where can you find a healthy and tasty meal while you're out and about?" Many fast food restaurants have a calorie count next to their items so you can make wise food choices.

Here are a few you may want to try:

  • Taco Time: Fit-Hits
  • Taco Bell: Fresco style options
  • McDonalds: Asian or Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken or Grilled Chicken Snack Wraps
  • Starbucks: Chicken and Hummus Bistro Box or Zesty Chicken and Black Bean Salad
  • Arby's: Santa Fe or Martha's Vineyard Salad with Grilled Chicken or Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich
  • Wendy's: Ultimate Chicken Grill Sandwich or Chili and a Garden Salad
  • KFC: Grilled Chicken Breast, Oven Roasted Twister or Honey BBQ Sandwich

Keep in mind mayo, salad dressing and other condiments can add 100 calories per tablespoon, so be careful. It's easy to make a healthy meal "unhealthy". In contrast, adding a side of fresh fruits or vegetables can make these meals even better!
