Fit Tip #13

Eat Better - January 2015

food pyramid

A healthy diet should contain all of the six major nutrients. These nutrients include vitamins, minerals, water, carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Although a common misconception is that fruits and vegetables are not carbohydrates, the carbohydrate category includes grains, fruits and vegetables. Proteins include meats, poultry, fish, dairy, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Fats can be saturated, the so-called "bad fats", or unsaturated "good fats". So what is the best way to eat better? Have a consistent diet of fresh foods that provides the right balance of all nutrients.
