Generally speaking it is absolutely fine to eat in the evening. Ideally, your evening meals and snacks should be smaller than those eaten earlier in the day. A good rule of thumb is to fast through the night (10-12 hours) to help process all of the food eaten during the day. With that in mind, you can work backward from the time you eat breakfast and find a good "cut-off" time for yourself. For example, if breakfast is at 8:00 a.m. every morning, try not to eat after 8:00 p.m. the night before. Keep in mind that there is liberty within the general "rules" of healthy eating. Getting up for a mid-night snack every once in a while typically won't be what wrecks your diet. It's the day to day choices you make that will keep you on track. I am a firm believer in moderation and consistency. Eating healthy foods the majority of the time, not overeating, and staying active are keys to fitness success.
