Calorie Balance - March 2016

The total amount of calories we consume is a major factor in maintaining proper health and body composition. You may have seen or heard the saying, "Calories In = Calories Out". This statement refers to the fact that in order to maintain your current weight you must balance the number of calories consumed with the number of calories used throughout your day. The simple formula for gaining or losing weight comes from this saying too. When Calories In > Calories Out we gain weight, and when Calories In < Calories Out we lose weight. So on the simplest level we see that weight management boils down to balancing what we eat with what we expend.
