Many people have a goal to lose weight. Some think that by simply cutting calories from their diet they'll achieve this goal. While it is true that cutting calories can help lower body weight, nearly 1/3 of the weight lost by such a strategy will be lean mass, i.e. muscle. In order to prevent this loss of lean mass, maintain a consistent strength training routine while eating a healthy diet. Then, as Special K ads used to say, you'll "keep the muscle, lose the fat".
