Tips for Healthy Outdoor Workouts - May 2019

Get out and enjoy the sunshine with these helpful tips in mind:

  • Stay hydrated. The warmer weather means you'll typically sweat more, so drink plenty of water throughout the day, and especially during workouts.
  • Be careful not to overexert. The heat makes workouts more intense, so be mindful of how hard you're working out and dial down the intensity if necessary.
  • Apply, and reapply, sunscreen. Getting a little sunlight is great, but whenever you're planning to be in the sun for a long time, be sure to use sunscreen.
  • Be attentive. With more people out enjoying the beautiful weather it's important to be alert for walkers, joggers, and cyclists as you're driving. Likewise, exercisers should pay attention to their surroundings whenever exercising outdoors.
