The rotator cuff is a group of small muscles that are critical to shoulder movement and health as well as good posture. Here is a little exercise that goes a long way in strengthening the shoulder:
Start by standing or sitting with good posture, not slouched, and arms hanging relaxed at sides. As you sit like this, your thumbs should naturally be pointing forward. Slowly rotate your arms so your palms face away from your body, and your thumbs point behind you. As you move your arms, also squeeze your shoulder blades together. Hold this position for a couple seconds (with your palms out, thumbs pointing back, and your shoulder blades together) then return to the starting position and repeat.
Do a dozen reps every day or two and this easy little exercise will add up to stronger shoulders and better posture.
